About My Practice
I am not interested in labelling and/or diagnosing. I use a compassionate and mindful approach to work with you to discover, identify and explore issues of your rumination and stuckness. I will provide a safe and confidential healing space where you are supported to reflect, heal and improve your wellbeing.
Together we will explore and (re)discover solutions to what is happening in your life and what brings you to counselling.
I use an integrative (talk therapy, somatic psychotherapy, art therapy and ecotherapy) approach to my counselling, as I understand that one approach does not necessary work for all.
We all have innate wisdom that can guide us to what we need and just need to learn how to (re) connect to it, and I am here to support you with that.

About Me
My name is Suzie Jokic and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with PACFA (Psychotherpay and Counselling Federation of Australia), based on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia.
My work is underpinned by a strength based, person centred and trauma informed approach to counselling.
My strengths are my kindness and compassion; having the commitment to empower people to move from just surviving to thriving.
I am passionate about individuals, groups and community wholistic wellbeing.
My intention is that people feel greater wellbeing by becoming more balanced, calm and grounded in work, family and life in general.
My Story
My whole career has been based in the caring industry. I have worked in aged care, with youth, new arrivals/refugees, culturally linguistically diverse communities, ATSI, and within focused areas of community development, homelessness, housing, community health, domestic and family violence, sexual assault, working with women, families/parenting, working with fathers, in tertiary education (TAFE SA and University) and in both urban and regional communities.
I have undergraduate degrees in Community Development and Community Work and post Graduate degrees in Counselling and Education. I am a lifelong learner, always wanting to expand and develop my understanding through learning differing modalities. Some but not exclusive to: Mindfulness Awareness Parenting, Mindful Self Compassion, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
My extensive experience and educational background has led me to working as a specialist trauma counsellor and using self-compassion, mindfulness and somatic psychotherapy to support wholistic wellbeing.

Why the name Sooki's Compassion?
I often get asked about why the name Sooki’s Compassion. As a child, my mum called me Sooki as a term of endearment but it was/is also used as a slang word to describe someone that is overly sensitive or easily upset; it is used in a teasing way or seen as negative that could be felt as dismissive or insulting. Whilst some of that may be true of me as a child, as an adult I wanted to reappropriate and reframe that word into a different light. It is a positive thing to be sensitive. Being sensitive allows for deeper connections, greater empathy and a heightened awareness of emotions, making relationships more meaningful. It also fosters kindness, creativity and authenticity. It helps individuals navigate the world with compassion and understanding. So, at Sooki’s Compassion, it is ok to cry. It is ok to be sensitive. It is ok to finally connect with your emotions. I hope that my compassion will allow you to be more compassionate to yourself and others.
